2019 Perth Tax Update - Session 3
Exclusive to Perth, these popular sessions will keep you abreast of the practical implications of developments in key areas and how they will impact you and your clients.

Special Topic: Property Development and GST

  • Identifying when a property development constitutes an enterprise
  • The GST implications for the enterprise
  • When a change of intention in relation to a property development has GST consequences
  • The new GST withholding rules and property development

The aim of this seminar is to highlight key GST issues which may arise for taxpayers undertaking small-scale property development activities, and to illustrate the application of the relevant principles by way of examples. The seminar loosely follows the property development lifecycle, and accordingly consider:

  • if there is an enterprise - is registration for GST purposes required?
  • pre-acquisition transactions
  • acquisition of the development site
  • GST treatment of construction and other costs
  • disposal of the finished property

These tax updates presented by TaxBanter focus on the practical issues faced by advisers, and will cover:
  • Recent taxation cases (including AATA, Federal Court and High Court decisions) and how they will affect your day-to-day taxation and financial planning advice
  • Recent tax rulings and determinations
  • Recent changes to tax legislation including new Bills and Tax Office interpretations
  • Guidelines for tax planning strategies that really work!
  • A brief review of state and territory taxes
